Japanese Curry Rice is a tasty single Japanese dish made with rice, beef, and vegetables that can be spicy or not!

Total Time 1 hour 5 minutes

  • 200 ml of water
  • 180 gr of short grain rice

  • 400 ml of water
  • 300 gr of Beef
  • 50 gr of Curry Nuts
  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 1 carrot
  • 1/2 of onion
  • qb of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

    1. To make Japanese Curry Rice, place the rice in a bowl and cover it with water; at this point, wash it thoroughly until the water turns white, then drain it and repeat the process ten times more, until the water is clear and the rice has lost all of its starch. Place the rice in a small saucepan with 200 ml of water, cover with a lid, and cook over medium heat. When the water begins to boil, reduce the heat to low and continue to cook for another 13 minutes. Raise the heat to high for 30 seconds, then turn off the heat and leave it to rest for another 15 minutes without ever removing the lid.
    2. While the rice is cooking, cut the meat into small pieces, then peel and peel the potatoes and cut them to the same size as the meat. Cut the carrot into slices and finely chop the onion at this point. Brown the onion in a drizzle of oil in a large nonstick pan for about 5 minutes. At this point, add the meat and turn up the heat. After a few minutes, add the water, potato and carrot pieces, and salt and pepper to taste.
    3. Cook for about 30 minutes, covered, over medium heat, before turning off the heat. Add the curry cube at this point, mix well, and cook for another couple of minutes. Finally, serve the Japanese Curry Rice hot with the rice and curry meat.

  • Even when cooking meat, we recommend that you never lift the lid unless specifically instructed to do so in the recipe.
