Description
Melt-in-your-mouth, healthy and delicious! Most whole wheat recipes are rubbery; this one is not. I’ve made these hundreds of times and they never fail.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
- ½ teaspoons Salt
- 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Honey
- 3 Tablespoons Applesauce
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 2 whole Eggs
Preparation
1. Preheat griddle to 350ºF, or a skillet on medium/medium-low.
2. Whisk together whole wheat flour, salt and baking powder. Add honey, applesauce, buttermilk and eggs. Whisk together just until combined.
3. Ladle a pancake sized amount of batter onto the griddle or skillet and cook the bottom side until golden brown. Then flip it and cook the other side until golden brown.
Substitutions: You can substitute 1 tablespoon of honey for 3 tablespoons sugar. Buttermilk can be substituted with 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 1 cup milk.
