Description

Shepherd’s Pie is the ultimate comfort food: ground beef with sweet carrots and mushrooms in a rich, succulent sauce, covered with creamy mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • 1 cup Onion, Diced
  • 1-½ cup Carrot, Diced
  • ½ pounds Fresh Mushrooms, Roughly Chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 3 Tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • ½ cups Beef Broth
  • ½ Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • ¾ teaspoons Dried Oregano
  • Salt And Pepper
  • 4 cups Mashed Potatoes

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Heat oil and butter in large pan. Add onion, carrot, mushrooms and garlic. Cook until vegetables are tender. Add tomato paste, stir to combine.

Push vegetables to one side of pan and cook ground beef on the other side. Stir to combine all ingredients. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine.

If using an oven safe pan, top mixture with mashed potatoes. If not, transfer mixture to a 2-quart casserole dish and top with potatoes.

Bake 30–40 minutes.
