Description

By making this yourself you get the added bonus of your entire kitchen smelling like chai spices. Enjoy it hot or iced!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Water
  • 3 cups Milk
  • 7 whole Black Tea Bags (Individual Serving Size Bags, I Used Lipton Tea Bags)
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoons Cloves
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Cardamom
  • ½ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 pinch Black Pepper
  • ½ cups Honey

Preparation

1. Boil milk and water in a medium-sized pot (note: watch carefully because the milk can suddenly boil over and you can end up with a messy stove like I did).

Tip: Tie the teabags to a wooden spoon and set aside.

2. In a small food processor, grind the cinnamon, cloves, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, brown sugar and black pepper.

3. Once milk and water has boiled, add the spice mixture, honey, and the spoon with the tea bags tied to it. Boil again.

4. Turn the heat off and steep the tea bags for 3-5 minutes. Then remove the spoon with the tea bags attached.

5. Filter chai tea by pouring it into a bowl through fine strainer. Enjoy!
