- ¼ teaspoons Pressed Or Finely Minced Fresh Garlic
- ½ teaspoons Salt, Add More As Desired
- Freshly Ground Pepper, to taste
- ⅛ teaspoons Cumin
- 8 ounces, weight Avocado Flesh, For 8 Ounces You’ll Need About 2 Large
- 3 teaspoons Chopped Red Onion
- 1-½ teaspoon Fresh Lime Juice
- ½ teaspoons Fresh Lemon Juice
- Optional Ingredients For The Variations, As Noted Below
Preparation
Combine your cilantro, garlic, salt, pepper, and cumin in a bowl, then mash with the back of a fork to combine and release some of the oils. Add the avocado, red onion, lime juice, and lemon juice, then mash again until desired consistency is reached. Eat it as is or add some extras—my ideas are below.
Some ideas to change up this recipe:
1. Add 1-2 teaspoons fresh jalapeño or serrano pepper, to taste, minced.
2. Add 1-2 teaspoons roasted jalapeño, serrano, poblano, or Padrón peppers, to taste, minced.
3. Add 2-3 tablespoons of ripe tomato, small/medium chop Note: As soon as tomatoes touch salt they release their juice. This is going to create a watery mess so I recommend adding the tomato very close to serving time and maybe even just putting it on top.
4. A sprinkling of toasted pepitas (pumpkin seeds that are shelled).
5. Charred corn and a drizzle of chili oil.
6. Grill the avocados for 5-7 minutes and add any of the above variations Yum. I am definitely giving this a try.
7. Add 2 tablespoons of mild goat cheese and charred corn … just throwing that one out there since avocado and goat cheese make good sense.
