Description
A fruity, refreshing simple syrup that you can use to make homemade soda, add to a cocktail, lemonade or iced tea, or even drizzle over your desserts!
Ingredients
- ¾ ounces, weight Mint Leaves
- ½ cups Cane Sugar
- ½ cups Water
- 12 ounces, weight Fresh Raspberries
Preparation
Remove mint leaves from the stems and using your fingers, rip them into smaller pieces (in half or thirds is fine). Place all ingredients into a small saucepan and heat to medium high. Using a fork, smash the raspberries until they lose their form. Bring the mixture to a full boil. Reduce heat to medium. The mixture should continue to boil slightly. Stirring constantly, allow mixture to cook for 8 to 10 minutes so that the mint flavor really comes out.
Remove from heat and use a fine sieve or strainer to strain the mint leaves and raspberry seeds and pulp, keeping only the juices in a small container. The mixture should still be very hot so allow it to cool before putting it in the refrigerator.
Add simple syrup to sparkling water, homemade lemonade, iced tea, and/or make a killer cocktail!
