Description

Karen’s waffles, with 1/2 whole wheat. Karen made them with white flour, but my mom ground wheat, so I changed it to meet in the middle. And I like to add cinnamon too, so I guess it’s kind of not her recipe anymore, is it?

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • 2 cups White Flour
  • 8 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 8 Tablespoons Sugar
  • ½ teaspoons Cinnamon (optional)
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter, Melted
  • 4 Tablespoons Crisco, Melted
  • 4 whole Eggs
  • 4 cups Milk

Preparation

Plug in the waffle iron to heat it up while you prepare the batter.

Mix the dry ingredients together, then add the melted butter, Crisco, eggs and milk. Mix at medium speed until it’s a smooth consistency, but not too long.

Easy peasy! Throw it in the waffle iron and cook until the light goes out! It’s that easy!

If you know you’ll have leftovers, I recommend throwing cinnamon into the batter. It makes the leftovers extra munchable, and good to eat cold, all on their own.
