Ingredients
- 1-¼ pound Ground Turkey
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Pepper
- 2 Tablespoons Canola Oil
- 1 Tablespoon Annatto
- 1 Tablespoon Smoked Paprika
- ½ cups Ketchup
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 teaspoon Soy Sauce
- 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice
- 1 teaspoon Hot Mexican Chili Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Minced Garlic
- 1 whole Jalapeno, Sliced
- ¼ whole Red Pepper, Sliced Lengthwise
- ¼ whole Green Pepper, Sliced Lengthwise
- 6 slices Chipotle Cheese
- 2 whole Buns
- 2 leaves Iceberg Lettuce
Preparation
Season ground turkey with salt and pepper and form into patties. Heat a cast iron skillet on medium high heat and add oil. When warm, cook patties.
Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine annatto, smoked paprika, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, lemon juice, chili powder, and minced garlic. Mix well. Pour this sauce into a skillet, bring to boil, and reduce to a simmer. Add in the peppers and simmer for 5 minutes. Set aside.
After cooking turkey burgers for 5 minutes, flip and add jalapeño to the pan. Cook for 3 more minutes. Lay 2 slices of cheese on each burger and continue cooking another 2 minutes. Remove from pan and let rest 2 minutes.
Assemble by taking 1 side of the bun and top with lettuce. Add the burger and finish by spooning on the peppers and sauce. Serve and enjoy!
