Description

Most of us at this point know the story of Charlie and Willy Wonka. My favorite moment from the book, a sweet gesture made by Wonka himself, is when Wonka reaches a ladle down into the flowing river of hot chocolate and fills mugs of hot and frothy goodness for the starving Charlie and Grandpa. This is my version of that drink.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Milk (skim Is Fine)
  • 1-½ Tablespoon Cocoa Powder
  • ½ Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Half-and-half
  • ½ Tablespoons Vanilla Extract

Preparation

Put the milk, cocoa, and sugar in a sauce pot over medium heat. Whisk for around 10 minutes. It should come to a simmer and gradually thicken. At that point, add in the cream (or half and half) and vanilla extract. Whisk for another minute.

Pour into a mug. Sigh with happiness as you take your first taste. Make sure to wipe off your chocolate mustache.
