Description

I have tried seven or eight different granola recipes now. There’s always something missing (cinnamon and maple syrup, please!), something it needs more of (where’s the fruit in this thing?), and something it doesn’t need at all (too much sugar!). Here is one of my own creations. This recipe has plenty of crunchy seeds and nuts, healthy flax seeds, and canola oil.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups Old Fashioned Oats
  • ½ cups Slivered Almonds
  • ½ cups Sunflower Seeds
  • ½ cups Roasted Soynuts
  • ½ cups Flax Seeds
  • ⅔ cups Canola Oil
  • ⅓ cups Honey
  • ⅓ cups Real Maple Syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ½ cups Shredded Coconut
  • 1-½ ounce, weight Freeze-dried Strawberries
  • ½ cups Dried Cranberries

Preparation

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

In a very large bowl, combine all the ingredients EXCEPT the coconut, strawberries, and cranberries. Spread the mixture onto baking sheets that have been sprayed with oil.

Bake for 30 minutes. Remove baking sheets from oven and stir the granola. Mix in the shredded coconut and bake for another 30 minutes.

Remove from oven and stir again. Allow granola to cool completely. Stir in the strawberries and cranberries.

Serve with milk or yogurt.
