Description

While this granola may not satisfy your most serious chocolate cravings, it will turn your milk a lovely cocoa color and easily stave off hunger until lunch.

Ingredients

  • 5 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder, Divided Use
  • 4 cups Old Fashioned Oats
  • 2 Tablespoons Flax Seed
  • ½ cups Wheat Germ
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ cups Craisins
  • ½ cups Chopped Walnuts
  • ½ cups Honey

Preparation

Preheat oven to 300ºF.

In a large bowl combine 3 tablespoons cocoa powder with all of the other ingredients. Mix thoroughly so the honey is evenly distributed throughout. Everything should be a bit sticky.

Spread the granola evenly on a baking sheet. Bake for 40 minutes at 300ºF, stirring every 10 minutes. Then, increase the temperature to 350ºF and bake for 10 minutes, stirring at the 5 minute mark. The oats should be browned and more crunchy than soft.

Remove it from the oven and let the granola cool slightly, and then mix in the remaining 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.

Allow the granola to cool completely before placing it in an airtight container for storage. Enjoy with milk or yogurt for breakfast or just eat it as a snack!
