Description

Amritsari Fish, a delicacy originated from Amritsar, Punjab is also a popular street food sold in the streets corner of Amritsar. I used salmon in this dish but you can use any white-fleshed fish instead. This is an easy fried fish dish cooked in minutes with readily available ingredients from your kitchen. Serve this as an appetizer for your cocktail party or side dish for your main course.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Boneless Salmon Fillet, Cut Into Cubes
  • ¼ cups Malt Vinegar Or Any Ordinary Vinegar
  • 1 cup Oil For Deep Frying
  • 1 teaspoon Chat Masala
  • FOR THE BATTER:
  • ¾ cups Gram Flour Or Besan
  • 1-½ Tablespoon Tandoori Chicken BBQ Masala Or Garam Masala
  • ¼ cups Yogurt
  • 3 Tablespoons Juice Of Ginger
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Carom Seeds
  • 2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Preparation

Marinate the fish pieces with malt vinegar. Set aside for 10 to 15 minutes.

Add all the ingredients for the batter in a big bowl, mix well. Slide the fish pieces into the batter. Stir to coat the fish pieces well in the batter and let stand for another 5 to 7 minutes.

In the meantime, heat oil for deep frying. Slide the fish pieces into the hot oil in batches, not too many pieces at a time. Fry the fish pieces till they turn a bright golden brown color on both sides.

Sprinkle chat masala on top and serve with onion salad and ketchup or green chutney as appetizer. You can also serve this as a side dish for your main course.
