Salted Watermelon Tequila and Basil Granita

Light, flavorful and easy to prepare. A perfect way to beat the heat.

Ingredients

  • 1-¾ pound Seedless Watermelon, In Chunks
  • ½ cups Granulated Sugar
  • ⅓ cups Silver Tequila
  • 2 Tablespoons Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1 Tablespoon Lime Zest
  • Salt For Sprinkling
  • ¼ cups Small Basil Leaves

Preparation

In a blender, combine the watermelon, sugar, tequila, lime juice and lime zest. Blend on high until smooth. Pour into a 9×13″ baking dish, spread it out and freeze for 1 hour. Stir the mixture with a fork and place back in the freezer. Repeat this procedure every hour 3 more times (for a total of three additional hours) until the granita is frozen. Serve with a sprinkle of salt and small basil leaves for garnish.

Total freeze time 4 hours.
