Apple Butter Hand Pies with a Maple Syrup Glaze

Ingredients

  • 2 whole Premade Pie Crusts, Unbaked
  • ¾ cups Apple Butter
  • 1  Egg White
  • FOR THE GLAZE:
  • ½ cups Powdered Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons Milk
  • 1 Tablespoon Maple Syrup

Preparation

Preheat oven to 450ºF.

Roll out pie dough on a floured surface. Cut out dough in desired shape. Separate shapes so that half are for the bottoms, and half are for the tops of the pies.

Put 1 tablespoon of apple butter in the center of each pie bottom. Place a second cutout on top and crimp edges together with a fork. Cut small slits in the top of each pie (2-3 is fine).

In a small bowl, whisk egg white until light and frothy. Brush top of each pie with a little of the egg white. Place pies on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper

Bake for 10–12 minutes or until tops are golden brown. Allow pies to cool completely before putting the glaze on.

For the glaze:
Mix together sugar, milk and maple syrup in a small bowl. Add more water a teaspoon at a time if the glaze needs to be loosened up. You want it to be loose enough that it can easily be drizzled on top with a spoon.
