Apple Pecan Cheese Ball

Description

This apple pecan cheese ball is a lovely snack for your guests during the holidays or a dinner party. Use pears or grapes in place of apples.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces, weight Cream Cheese, Softened
  • 1-¼ cup Extra-Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
  • ½ cups Gouda Cheese (not Smoked Gouda!)
  • 1 cup Apple, Finely Chopped (I Used Gala)
  • 2 stalks Scallions (Green Onions) Finely Chopped, White And Green Parts Used Separately
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ cups Toasted Pecans, Finely Chopped

Preparation

Combine cream cheese, cheddar, gouda, apple, scallion whites and salt in a medium bowl.

Coat one side of a large piece of plastic wrap with cooking spray. Plop the cheese mixture onto the plastic wrap and using the plastic wrap to keep your hands clean, form the cheese mixture into a ball then completely wrap it and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, longer if you have more time.

Combine the chopped pecans and scallion greens on a plate. Remove the cheese ball from the fridge, remove the plastic wrap and roll it in the pecan mixture making sure to cover the surface thoroughly.

Serve with a variety of crackers or crisp vegetables.
