Description
Steel cut oats take FOREVER to cook when you do it on the stove top. So I do it in my small crock pot overnight and they are delightful. I love to come down in the morning, switch on the coffee pot and go scoop out a bowl of warm, comforting oatmeal. Mmm.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Steel Cut Oats
- 3 cups Water
- 1 whole Apple, Peeled And Diced
- ¼ teaspoons Salt
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
Preparation
Put everything in a small crock pot and turn it on low right before you go to bed.
Wake up in the morning, turn off the crock pot (it will stay warm for a long time in there) and serve yourself a heaping bowlful.
Some suggested toppings:
Sucanat sugar, honey or maple sugar
Chia seeds
Chopped almonds, pecans or walnuts
Golden or regular raisins
Currants
