Description

A special and decadent way to jazz up a breakfast favorite.

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces, weight Chocolate, Chopped (I Like Hershey Kisses)
  • 1 cup Light Cream Or Half-and-Half
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar, Divided
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 4 whole Eggs, Lightly Beaten
  • ¼ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoons Vanilla
  • 6 slices (Firm) Bread (I Like To Use Ancient Grain)
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • 2 whole Bananas, Sliced
  • ½ cups Almonds, Chopped And Toasted

Preparation

In a saucepan, heat the chocolate, cream, and half the brown sugar over low heat, stirring frequently, until the chocolate melts. Set the chocolate sauce aside.

In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, the remaining brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Thoroughly soak the bread in the mixture, about 3 minutes per side.

In a large non-stick skillet over medium heat, melt half the butter until it foams. Fry half the bread until golden, 4 to 5 minutes a side. Keep warm. Repeat with the remaining butter and bread.

Top each piece of French toast with banana slices and drizzle with the warm (not hot) chocolate sauce. Sprinkle with toasted almonds.
