Description
This is how I work some extra dark leafy greens into my kids’ diet. Rich, chocolaty and packed with anti-oxidants and vitamins. The perfect way to detox in the midst of a decadent holiday season.
Ingredients
- 1-½ cup Frozen Blueberries
- 1 cup Frozen Raspberries
- 2 cups Dark Leafy Greens (red Chard, Purple Kale, Spinach…)
- 1-½ cup Whole Milk (cow, Goat, Almond, Coconut…)
- 1-½ cup Apple Juice
- 4 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
- 5 Tablespoons Maple Syrup (grade B)
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla
- 2 pinches Sea Salt
Preparation
Stuff your blender nearly to the top with frozen fruit and your favorite (or not so favorite) dark leafy vegetables. Don’t worry, you won’t taste them! Then add in the rest of the ingredients.
Blend until you reach your desired smoothie consistency. Taste, add more maple syrup, cocoa powder, vanilla or salt if needed. Enjoy!
PS. Making the Grade: Grade B maple syrup is less expensive, richer in flavor and less processed than Grade A. Three cheers for the underdog!
