Ingredients
- 8 ounces, weight Bow Tie Pasta
- 8 ounces, weight Ground Beef
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt
- 1 teaspoon Oregano
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- ¼ whole Diced Onion
- 20 ounces, fluid Tomato Sauce Or Marinara Sauce
- FOR THE CORN BREAD TOPPING:
- 1 cup Corn Meal
- ½ cups Self-Rising Flour
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 whole Beaten Egg
- 2 Tablespoons Melted Butter
Preparation
Preheat oven to 400ºF.
In a pot of boiling salted water, add bow tie pasta and cook al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a skillet, add ground beef, seasonings, and onions. Cook, crumbling meat apart, until brown. Drain excess grease.
Add tomato or marinara sauce and cook 8 minutes over medium high heat. Add bow tie pasta and stir gently. Transfer to a nonstick baking dish, smooth out top.
For the topping, in a mixing bowl, add corn meal, flour, salt, egg, and butter. Stir to combine; do not over-mix batter. Carefully add batter on top of bow tie pasta, spreading out with an offset spatula.
Bake 20 minutes or until corn bread is baked through and golden in color. Serve and enjoy!
