Description
I found this crumpled, crusty piece of paper under a microwave when I was cleaning dorms for a job. It has been well used ever since. So gooey and yummy. I love to eat it hot off the stove. Doubling the recipe perfectly fills up a 36 ounce plastic maple syrup bottle that I rinse out and use.
Ingredients
- ¾ cups Buttermilk
- 1-½ cup Sugar
- 1 stick Butter
- 2 Tablespoons Corn Syrup
- 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
Preparation
Combine all of the ingredients except vanilla in a LARGE saucepan. Put it on medium heat and stir frequently bringing to a boil. Then reduce to low heat. Cook and stir frequently for 8-9 minutes. When done it should have a golden brown color. Warning, it bubbles up quickly.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
You can skim the foam off or stir it into the syrup. (Who are we kidding!? Stir it in, it’s so yummy! It will take a little bit of vigorous stirring though.)
Enjoy on pancakes, waffles, you name it!
