Description

Puff pastry boats with ham, cheese and bell pepper.

Ingredients

  • ½  Red Bell Pepper, chopped
  • ½  Onion, Chopped
  • 7 ounces, weight Creamy Cheese Of Your Choice
  • 5-⅓ ounces, weight Sliced Ham, Chopped
  • 1  Egg
  • 1 box Frozen Puff Pastry (500 Grams Package Each Containing 6 Sheets), Thawed According To Package Directions
  • 3-⅝ ounces, weight Shredded Mozzarella
  • Salt, Pepper And Spices To Taste

Preparation

Preheat oven to 225ºC (437ºF) .

Combine the chopped pepper and onion in a bowl with the creamy cheese and chopped ham. Check the taste and if needed add pepper and spices to taste. In another bowl whisk the egg.

Slice each sheet of pastry vertically into 3 rectangles and flatten/spread them into squares with a rolling pin. Place a spoon full of filling in the center of each square, fold 2 opposite corners toward the middle and press so they stick together. Press all seams closed. Repeat until all of the filling and pastry has been used. Put them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.

Brush with the whisked egg and add shredded mozzarella on top. Bake at 225ºC (437ºF) for about 10-15 minutes (or follow the pastry package instructions), until the pastries have gotten a nice golden color.

Note regarding the cheese: I used a creamy garlic flavoured cheese and I added some mozzarella on the top.
