Description

A perfect evening snack. It’s super easy and done in no time! If you add 1 tablespoon sugar, you can fill them with marmalade or Nutella!

Ingredients

  • 600 grams Flour
  • 1 cup Lukewarm Water
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ¼ cups Olive Oil, Plus More For Frying
  • 1 envelope (7g Or 1/4 Oz. Size) Instant Dry Yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • Your Favorite Cheese, For Filling

Preparation

In a large bowl, add all of the ingredients except salt. Knead by hand for a minute or two and then add the salt. Work the dough until it forms a soft ball that slightly sticks to your hands. (You can use it right away and skip the next step.)

Wrap the bowl in plastic and let dough double in size. Knead dough again before.

Take a small handful of dough, open it in your hand or on parchment paper, and add in whatever you like. You can add cheese, feta or sausage! I added a slice of cheddar in some and a slice of gouda with a bit Roquefort in the rest. When you are done, simply enclose the cheese in dough, making sure it is carefully sealed.

Heat olive oil in a pan and fry donuts until golden brown on both sides. It’s best to place donuts (before frying) in pieces of parchment paper so that if the dough is sticky, you can simply fry the donut with the paper, and after about 15 seconds or even less, pull the paper away. It’s a nice trick.

When your donuts are ready, place on paper towels to soak up excess olive oil. Serve hot!
