Description
Greek Moussaka is one of the most popular dishes in Greece. If you have ever visited Greece, then you know that every single tavern or household serves delicious Moussaka.
Ingredients
- 600 grams Potatoes
- 1 whole Red Pepper, Chopped
- 200 grams Chopped Mushrooms
- 1 whole Onion, Chopped
- 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil, Plus More For Greasing Baking Dish
- ⅓ teaspoons Salt
- 400 grams Chicken Breast, Chopped
- 300 grams Cream Cheese
- 150 grams Sliced Emmental Cheese
Preparation
Preheat oven to 390°F (200°C). Grease ovenproof dish with some olive oil.
Cook sliced potatoes in a pot of boiling water for 5 minutes only. Drain and set aside.
Add chopped pepper, mushrooms, onion, and chicken breast to a pan olive oil and salt. Cook over medium heat for about 5–6 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
Put a third of the potato slices in a prepared ovenproof dish. Top with a half of the chicken mixture. Spread with cream cheese evenly. Repeat steps. At the end, add the third layer of potato and cover with Emmental cheese slices.
Bake for about 40 minutes until golden brown. Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.
