Description
My three-year-old is pretty obsessed with Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal and I only let her have it on special mornings. So today I thought it would be fun to use it on French toast. Well let me tell you, it was amazing! This French toast is super moist and pretty darn delicious for breakfast but it would be equally as delicious for dessert with a scoop of ice cream on top.
Ingredients
- ½ cups Cream
- ½ cups Whole Milk
- 3 whole Eggs
- ½ teaspoons Cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- ¼ teaspoons Salt
- 3 cups Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal
- 6 slices Texas Toast White Bread (Or Any Thick White Bread)
- 1 Tablespoon Butter
Preparation
1. In a 13″ x 9″ casserole dish or pie pan, whisk together the cream, milk (you can substitute 1 cup half-and-half instead of milk and cream), eggs, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt. Set aside. Tip: if you are a messy whisker, make this in a large bowl and transfer to a pie dish afterwards.
2. Crush your cereal in a bag or dish and set aside. I just poured my cereal into the dish and crushed everything with a fork. They don’t need to be smashed into dust. Keep it crunchy, folks.
3. Dip bread into wet mixture and allow to soak for 45 seconds on each side. Remove from wet mixture and place into crushed cereal. Make sure to coat both sides with the cereal, then lay all your pieces on a baking sheet or plate—just something you will set next to the frying pan.
4. Over medium-low heat, melt butter in a pan. Place 2 slices of bread at a time into the pan and cook until golden brown, approximately 3-4 minutes per side. Serve immediately with maple syrup, whipped cream, powdered sugar, fruit, nutella, ice cream, m&ms, girl scout cookies … Okay, you get the point. Serve with whatever because it’s freaking amazing.
Enjoy!
