Description
This meatloaf recipe is a great go to staple for your kitchen. It is easy to make and delicious. A great comfort meal.
Ingredients
- 1-½ pound Ground Turkey Or Chuck
- 1 Egg
- ½ cups Bread Crumbs
- 1 teaspoon Water
- ½ cups Tomato Sauce
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- ½ cups Chopped Onion (optional)
- FOR THE SAUCE:
- 3 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Balsamic (or Red Wine) Vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Yellow Mustard
- 1 teaspoon Water
- ½ cups Tomato Sauce
Preparation
Preheat oven to 325ºF.
In a large bowl, combine meat, egg, breadcrumbs, water, tomato sauce, salt, onions (optional), and any other add-ins that you would like. Mix gently with a fork. Place the meat in a greased loaf pan or a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. If you use the cookie sheet method, shape meat into a rectangle shape.
For the sauce, mix brown sugar, balsamic or red wine vinegar, yellow mustard, water and tomato sauce together in a small bowl. Use less brown sugar if you want to cut down on the sweetness. In a pinch, I have used ketchup on top. Cover meatloaf with sauce.
Bake uncovered approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours. If you have a meat thermometer, it should read approximately 160ºF.
You can enjoy this meal with a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.
