Description

Fancy a hot chocolate but don’t want that watery chalky-tasting drink with tons of powder settled at the bottom? This European-style hot chocolate is thick, indulgent and full of real chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces, weight Milk Chocolate
  • 3 ounces, weight Dark Chocolate
  • 2 teaspoons Granulated Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoons Instant Espresso Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cornflour (cornstarch)
  • 2 cups Milk
  • ½ teaspoons Vanilla Extract

Preparation

Break both the dark and milk chocolate into chunks and feed through your KitchenAid Food Grinder into a bowl using the coarse plate. Use the food pusher to help the chocolate through, then remove the plate and scrape out any chocolate around the grinder plate. If you don’t have the KitchenAid Food Grinder, grate the chocolate using a fine grater or blitz it in a food processor.

Sprinkle the granulated sugar, espresso powder and corn flour over the ground chocolate and toss to coat.

Pour the milk into a medium saucepan, add the chocolate mixture and gently heat over a medium heat, until nearly simmering, stirring occasionally to stop a skin from forming. Remove from heat.

Whisk in the vanilla extract and serve immediately.
