Great Grandpa Adcock’s Egg Nog

    Description

    We have this every Christmas. It is a nice, thick, and delicious treat.

    Ingredients

    • 6 whole Eggs, Separated
    • ½ cups Sugar
    • 1 pint Half-and-half
    • 1 pint Rum (optional)
    • 2 pints Whipping Cream (or 4 Half Pints)
    • Nutmeg, For Topping
    • Candy Cane, For Garnish

    Preparation

    Beat eggs yolks till light. Add sugar and half-and-half. Fold in rum slowly.

    Clean beaters. Whip cream until almost stiff. Fold into egg mixture.

    Clean beaters. Whip egg whites in a chilled bowl until stiff peaks form. Fold into the mixture.

    Top with nutmeg and serve with a candy cane.

    Notes:
    Cleaning the beaters is an extremely important step. Please do not overlook it!

    This can be made without the rum! In fact, we kids had it rum-free all of the time!
