Description
A refreshing zing for the long days of summer.
Ingredients
- 5 cups Water
- ½ cups Loose Dried Hibiscus Tea Flowers (up To 1/4 Cup More If Desired)
- 1 bag Unbleached Tea Bag To Steep Petals
- ½ cups Granulated Sugar
- 1 whole Lime, Juiced (plus More For Slicing And Serving)
- 1 sprig Mint For Garnish (optional)
Preparation
Bring the water to a boil in a kettle on the stove. Put the tea flowers into the tea bag.
Add 4 cups of the hot water to a 4-cup Pyrex measuring cup. Add the tea bag(s). Cover and let the tea steep for about 15-20 minutes. It should be a nice dark red color.
While you’re waiting, make a simple syrup: Put the sugar into a 2-cup glass Pyrex and add the remaining 1 cup of hot water. Stir to dissolve sugar.
Squeeze lime juice into your pitcher. Add simple syrup. Once tea is done steeping, remove the bag and add the tea into the pitcher and stir.
At this point you can make more simple syrup if you would like it sweeter. Fill pitcher with a few handfuls of ice. Add a wedge of lime to your glass and a sprig of mint for extra zing!
