Description

By adding bacon and maple syrup to a basic butter cookie, you elevate its deliciousness!

Ingredients

  • 2 slices Bacon
  • 17 Tablespoons Butter, Room Temperature
  • ¼ cups Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons Bacon Grease
  • ¼ cups Maple Syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 2 cups Flour

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 F. Start by cooking the bacon. Cook it in a small skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon to a paper towel and keep the bacon drippings in the pan. Finely chop the cooked bacon and set it aside.

In a large bowl using an electric mixer, cream your butter and sugar until light in color. Then add the bacon grease. After incorporating the bacon grease, add the syrup. Next, add the vanilla and salt and mix to incorporate. Then add the flour in two batches mixing after each addition. Add the chopped bacon and mix.

Using a small cookie scoop, scoop the dough onto a parchment paper lined cookie sheet, leaving about 2 inches in between. Bake for 10-12 minutes. When done, they should be golden around the edges, but still white in appearance. Remove from oven and enjoy!

Oh my! These were fantastic. Better than I could have imagined. Of course, adding maple and bacon to anything is awesome. Autumn is the time of year when you see a lot of recipes with maple, and lately everything is bacon this or that. It’s no surprise that mixing them together in a cookie was bound to happen. I have seen this combo before and even tried a cookie mix, but it wasn’t very good. I knew with the right ingredients, it could be a home run. Well, I hit it out of the park on the first try (if I do say so myself)!
