Description
Homemade, hearty, savory meat sauce. Serve with pasta and soft bread. The ultimate comfort food.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds Lean 90/10 Ground Beef (Ground Turkey Or Chicken Can Be Substituted)
- 5 cloves Fresh Garlic, Finely Diced
- ½ whole Sweet Onion, Chopped
- ⅔ cups Chopped Green Pepper
- 3 cans (28 Oz. Size) Diced Tomatoes (or Tomato Puree)
- 1 can (6 Oz. Size) Tomato Paste
- ½ cups Dry Red Wine
- 2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
- ¼ cups Dried Oregano
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- ¼ cups Romano Cheese
Preparation
In a large pot, saute meat over medium high heat until no longer pink. Add diced garlic and onion. Stir and cook for about 5–7 minutes longer. Add green pepper, cook and stir until meat is nicely browned.
Drain fat from meat and return to pot. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, wine, garlic powder, oregano, pepper and Romano cheese. Stir well with wooden spoon. Cover and lower heat to simmer. Let simmer for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Serve with pasta, soft Italian bread and a green salad.
