Description
Hearty and beefy meatballs smothered with a garlicky tomato sauce, smothered in mozzarella all in a crusty roll.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Lean Ground Beef
- 1 Egg, Lightly Beaten
- ½ cups Bread Crumbs (Plain Or Italian)
- 2 Tablespoons Fresh Parsley, Chopped
- ⅛ teaspoons Black Pepper
- 2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
- 2 cloves Garlic, Chopped
- 1 jar (24 Oz. Size) Strained Tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
- Salt And Pepper, to taste
- 4 Crusty Rolls, Split And Toasted
- 8 ounces, weight Mozzarella Cheese, Shredded
Preparation
In a large bowl, combine meat, egg, bread crumbs and seasonings. Shape into 1 1/2 inch meatballs.
In a large skillet, brown meatballs on all sides. Remove meatballs and drain all but 2 tablespoons of oil.
With the pan over low heat, add chopped garlic and cook until golden, about 2 minutes. Add tomatoes and oregano and stir. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Fill toasted rolls with sliced meatballs. Top with cheese and bake for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
