Description
Strips of pizza dough, rolled in cheese, covered in pepperoni, and rolled into pinwheels only to be doused with pizza sauce and covered with more cheese. What’s not to like?
Ingredients
- 1 whole Batch Of Pizza Dough
- 1 Tablespoon Unsalted Butter
- 12 ounces, weight Your Favorite Pizza Sauce
- 16 ounces, weight Shredded Mozzarella Cheese, Divided
- 1 cup Sliced Pepperoni, Chopped And Lightly Crisp, Oil Patted
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt
Preparation
Start by rolling out pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. You probably want to roll the dough about 1/4 inch thick.
Preheat oven to 425ºF. Spread the butter inside a casserole dish.
Take a pizza cutter and slice the dough crosswise, in half, and then cut into about 1 1/2 inch slices.
Pour pizza sauce into the bottom of the buttered casserole dish. Take half the cheese and pour it over the pizza strips, to cover. Take the sliced pepperoni and add on top of the cheese.
Roll each slice into pinwheels and place vertically, allowing it to stand up into the casserole dish. Repeat with remaining pizza strips. Top with remaining cheese, and any additional pepperoni. Sprinkle with some garlic salt, and then bake uncovered in the oven for about 18 minutes or until dough is cooked and cheese is nicely melted.
Remove from oven. Let cool for about 5–10 minutes, then dig in.
