Slow Cooker Chicken in Milk

Description

This slow cooker chicken is simple to prepare, and it comes out tender and tasty.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole (4 To 5 Lb. Size) Fryer Chicken
  • 2 teaspoons Kosher Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic, Or 1 Teaspoon Minced Garlic
  • ½ teaspoons Cinnamon, Or 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Savoury (substitute Poultry Seasoning Or Sage If Necessary)
  • 2 teaspoons Orange Zest
  • 2 cups Milk

Preparation

Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium heat. Pat the chicken dry with paper towel and season with salt and pepper.

Add the butter and oil to skillet. Sear the whole chicken in the skillet, 2–3 minutes on each side. Transfer chicken to slow cooker, breast side down.

To the skillet, add garlic cloves or minced garlic and cinnamon. Cook 1–2 minutes, then add to the slow cooker. Sprinkle the savoury and orange zest over chicken. Pour milk into slow cooker.

Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, or on high 4 hours.
