Description
Slow-Cooker Dr. Pepper Shredded Pork is a pork shoulder slow cooked in Dr. Pepper, then shredded and covered in barbecue sauce. Perfect for a delicious weeknight dinner or for feeding a crowd.
Ingredients
- 1 whole Yellow Onion, Chopped
- 3 pinches Dry Rub
- 3 pounds Pork Shoulder
- 12 ounces, fluid Dr. Pepper
- 18 ounces, weight Barbecue Sauce
- 6 Rolls
Preparation
Peel and chop onion and place on the bottom of a slow cooker.
Pat spice rub onto a dry pork shoulder. Place pork shoulder on top of onion and pour Dr. Pepper around the pork shoulder (not over or you’ll wash off all the spice). Cook on low for 9 hours or until done.
Once pork is done, take it out and place on a plate. Dump the juice and onion out and replace the pork shoulder in slow cooker. Shred the pork shoulder and pour as much or as little barbecue sauce over the meat and mix.
Allow meat and sauce to come to a warm temperature, about 30 minutes and then serve with rolls.
