Description
A creamy cocoa with a surprise ingredient that kids love. It would be worth going to the South Pole for but you can get it right in your own kitchen!
Ingredients
- FOR THE HOT CHOCOLATE:
- 2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
- ¼ cups Toffee Bits
- 1 cup Milk
- ⅓ cups Unsweetened Cocoa
- 12 ounces, weight Cream Soda
- FOR THE CINNAMON WHIPPED CREAM:
- 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 6 Tablespoons Powdered Sugar (less If Preferred)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
Preparation
In a medium sauce pan, melt butter on low heat. Add brown sugar. Mix and allow sugar and butter to melt together.
Put toffee bits into a food processor and pulse until it turns into a fine powder. Then add toffee and milk into the sauce pan. Mix and simmer for about 5 minutes.
Add unsweetened cocoa. Whisk everything together.
Add cream soda. Simmer on low for another 10 minutes or until hot chocolate starts to bubble and slightly thicken.
Serve with cinnamon whipped cream (recipe below).
For the cinnamon whipped cream:
Add whipping cream, powdered sugar (by tablespoon to taste), vanilla and cinnamon together into a mixing bowl. Whisk together on high either in a Kitchen Aid mixer or using a hand mixer until stiff peaks form.
Serve a generous dollop of cinnamon whipped cream on each cup and sprinkle lightly with cinnamon (optional).
Enjoy!
