Description
Dress up your plain ‘ol oats with some fall-inspired goodies.
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon Butter
- 1 cup Steel Cut Oats
- 2 cups Water
- ½ teaspoons Vanilla Extract
- ¼ cups Buttermilk (or Any Kind Of Milk)
- 1 whole Apple, Chopped
- ½ teaspoons Cinnamon
- 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Water
- 1 teaspoon Maple Syrup
- 3 teaspoons Maple Syrup, For Drizzling
- ¼ cups Chopped Pecans
Preparation
In a saucepan melt butter over medium heat and then add oats and lightly brown them. Then add water, bringing oats to a boil. Then reduce heat to low and simmer for around 15-20 minutes until liquid is absorbed and oats are cooked. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and milk for creaminess.
While oats are cooking, add apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, 1 Tablespoon of water and 1 teaspoon of maple syrup to a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat until apples are cooked tender.
Spoon oats into a bowl and drizzle with remaining maple syrup and top with apple mixture and chopped pecans.
I portioned out a smaller dish for breakfast and saved the rest to reheat for breakfast during the week.
