Description

As a new wife I had to learn to cook for a man that would only eat things consisting of meat, cheese and bread. After a year of trying different recipes for sausage balls, I finally found one that he whole heartedly approved of. Not too dry, not too much breading and just a kick of heat! Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 package 16 Oz. Package, Hot Or Mild Breakfast Sausage
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 cup Bisquick
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • Tabasco (optional)
  • Diced Jalapeno (Optional)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Take the package of sausage (can be mild or hot depending on your heat preference) and put it in a large mixing bowl. Add cheese and mix it all together. (I used a block of cheese and grated it and I found that it dried it out a little bit, but they were still good!) Also mix in the cup of Bisquick and Worcestershire sauce until all of it is meshed together.

If you like a little heat like we do in our house then sprinkle in a few drops of Tabasco. It can be a little or it can be a lot … In my house, I usually stop when I’m tired of shaking. If you don’t think that that will spice it up for you enough, feel free to take a few diced jalapenos throw them in your food processor and pulse for a second or two. Then add them into the mix. Warning—it can get spicy.

Roll the mixture into 1-inch sized balls and place on a rimmed baking sheet or casserole dish.

Place in the oven to cook for 20-25 minutes, enough time to paint your toes or read a chapter or two in Fifty Shades of Grey … The tops should have just started to brown and that’s when I can tell if they’re done. They turn out very moist and hold together quite well. If you want them a little crispier, cook a little longer.
