Tomato and Basil Spread

Description

A creamy, rich, robust Italian tomato spread that is slightly garlicky with little hints of basil; and it’s made with Greek yogurt.

Ingredients

  • 2 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 6 ounces, weight Can Tomato Paste
  • 1 dash Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ¼ teaspoons Black Ground Pepper
  • ¼ teaspoons Fresh Thyme
  • ½ teaspoons Oregano, Dried
  • 5 whole Basil Leaves, Chopped Fine
  • 2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • ½ cups Greek Yogurt, Plain

Preparation

In a bowl, add garlic, tomato paste, sugar, salt, pepper, thyme and oregano and mix until combined. Stir in fresh basil leaves. While stirring, drizzle in two tablespoons of olive oil. Mix in the Greek yogurt. Refrigerate until you are ready to use it.

Serve with Italian crackers, celery, bread sticks, use as a sandwich spread or smear on a baguette.
