Description

This is the perfect drink for, well, just about anything. I’ve never met anyone who didn’t immediately ask for the recipe, even those who claim to not like tea. Serve this at your next party, barbeque, baby or wedding shower, or just keep some in the fridge for your family. You will not be disappointed.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups Very Strong Brewed Tea (I Use 7 To 8 Family Size Tea Bags For The 5 1/2 Cups Of Water)
  • 1-½ cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 can Frozen Lemonade Concentrate (12 Ounce Can)
  • 1 teaspoon Almond Extract
  • 1 gallon Water, Divided

Preparation

Prepare tea, allowing to steep until it is very strong. To do this, boil about 5 1/2 cups of water in a large pot. When the water comes to a boil, turn off the heat, place the tea bags (I use Lipton’s) in the water, and cover for several (3 or so) hours. The tea should be very dark and concentrated- the stronger, the better.

In a one gallon pitcher, combine warm tea, sugar, lemonade concentrate, and almond extract. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Fill pitcher with enough additional water to make one gallon. Keep refrigerated. Shake or stir before serving over ice.

Will last in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.

NOTE: I like to use gallon jugs of water from the grocery when I make this. I use water from the jug to prepare the tea, then mix and pour back into the jug for storage. It makes it easy to transport or make several gallons for parties.

As an alternative to brewing the tea on the stove, if you have an ice tea maker, you can brew the tea as directed with your appliance (according to manufacturer’s instructions), and after brewing is completed, remove the tea bags from the filter and place directly into the pitcher for a couple of hours.
