Description
Recently I decided to get a food dehydrator. This came about from an occasional spurt of deciding to try to eat healthier. When I mentioned this to a friend she offered me hers. (Interestingly she had been using hers to dry flowers and flower arrangements!) Anyway, I got a bargain and a new toy and started trying different fruits. One day I want to try jerky, but for now fruits only!
Ingredients
- ½ cups Dark Rum
- ¼ teaspoons Ground Nutmeg
- ⅛ teaspoons Cloves
- 5 whole Large Bananas, Peeled Then Sliced 1/4″ Thick
Preparation
Mix the first 3 ingredients in a medium sized bowl. Add banana slices and cover the bowl. I used a plastic container with a secure lid so that I could shake them about several times. Refrigerate overnight.
Drain slices on a slotted surface, rack or colander. There may not be a lot to drain based on absorption. I had a small amount which was a lovely addition to a shot of orange juice.)
Arrange banana slices in your dehydrator and follow manufacturer’s instructions to dry them to your desired texture (crispy or leathery).
Note: It may be helpful to spray the racks with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.
