Description

I can’t be the only one who is unable to turn sticky, gooey, marshmallow-coated cornflakes into a demure wreath. Plus, these are (slightly) better for you.

Ingredients

  • ½ cups Butter
  • 10 ounces, weight Marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon Almond Extract
  • 1 teaspoon Food Coloring (or More)
  • 8 cups Cornflakes (or Other Cereal)
  • ½ cups Red Hot Candies

Preparation

Microwave butter in a large bowl for 1 minute. Add the marshmallows and toss to coat. Microwave marshmallows and butter for 2 minutes. Stir and microwave for another 1 minute and stir until smooth.

Add vanilla, almond extract and food coloring. Add cornflakes and stir gently to coat.

Spray two spoons with Pam (or nonstick cooking spray). Spoon large blobs onto waxed paper. When mixture is gone, immediately sprinkle with red hots. If you wait too long, the candies won’t stick.

After about an hour, flip the wreaths over to let the bottoms harden. Store in Ziploc bags.

As for the photo and the fact that mine happen to be blue, feel free to read the related blog post. :)
