Description

Chai is actually really easy to make at home. All you need is a couple of spices, some loose tea, a little sugar and milk. This is a favorite of mine on a cold winter day or when I just need something more than a glass of tea.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks Cinnamon Or Cinnamon Bark
  • 3 whole Cardamom Pods
  • 4 whole Cloves
  • 1 whole Star Anise
  • 2 cups Water
  • ¼ cups Loose Black Tea Leaves
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 cup Milk

Preparation

In a warm pot, quickly heat up cinnamon stick or bark, cardamom, cloves, and star anise.

Wait about a minute; you will smell the spices. Add the water and black tea leaves, bring to a low boil, then simmer.

I add sugar because I am a total sugar fiend. Let steep for about 5 minutes on a low simmer and then add the milk. Take off heat and let it sit for about 2-3 minutes.

Strain your spices and tea leaves and pour your chai in a cup.

Enjoy!

I usually pour my tea mixture into a French press which makes it easier to separate the spices and easier to serve.
