Rather, if you have some common ingredients and an easy recipe at your hand, you can cook any Chinese dish at home. So is the pepper steak. Try this dish at home and your children are absolutely going to fall for it. Let’s begin.
Why Do We Use The Flank Cut For Pepper Steak Stir Fry?
The flank cut is the best option for stir-frying because it remains very tender when it is stir-fried. To get a really tender melt in the mouth, you should slice the meat against the strands of the muscle that goes in the horizontal direction. This cut will give you a tender, mouthwatering bite.
Instead of flank-cut meat, you can also use a round or sirloin to make this dish. Besides, you can bake this Asian-style dish in the oven. When you bake this dish, make sure that the meat doesn’t get overbaked.
How To Make Pepper Steak Stir Fry At Home?
This dish is a combination of fresh produce, marinated steak meat, and a slurry. For fresh produce, I used bell pepper, garlic, and ginger. I used sauteed bell pepper and cooked flank steak with a slurry made from soy sauce and stir-fried them to make this luscious steak meal. Here, I only used two types of bell pepper, red and green. In addition, I used pure organic honey to create a glaze-like effect on the meat. You can make this restaurant-quality steak meal with any kind of vegetable other than bell peppers. The dish can be cooked easily in only three steps. Firstly, I prepared the vegetables and marinated the meat. The next step is to cook the meat. Then I sauteed the vegetables in another pan. And finally, I combined the meat and vegetables with the slurry and thicken it to an optimum consistency, and our dish is ready to serve.
Tips
- Use fresh garlic and ginger. This combination will bring a heavenly flavor to your dish.
- Thinly slice the meat against the horizontal direction of meat strands to get a juicy and tender melt.
- Do not overcook your garlic and ginger to retain the freshness and flavor.
- Do not overcook your vegetables if you want to maintain a vibrant color. Remember, people eat with their eyes first. I cooked the vegetables not exceeding 1 minute.5. Add the slurry when the vegetables are crunchy to maintain the juiciness.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds of flank steak meat thinly sliced
- 2 medium size bell peppers cut into bite-size pieces
- 1 large onion cut into cubes
- 3 cloves of garlic minced
- 1 thumb-sized ginger minced
- 6 tablespoons of oil
- 1 ½ tablespoon of pure organic honey
- 1 ½ tablespoon of olive oil
- ½ tablespoon of black pepper coarsely crushed
- ½ cup of water
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce 1 tablespoon of light and 1 tablespoon of dark soy sauce (Half of them are to marinate the meat and the remainder is for slurry)
- 3 tablespoons of corn starch
- ½ tablespoon of chicken seasoning
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the vegetables: Cut the bell peppers, remove the seeds, and cut them into bite-size pieces. Cut the onion to the same size as bell peppers. Mince the garlic and ginger.
- Prepare the meat: Slice the meat into very thin slices as directed.
- Marination: Marinate the meat with salt, a pinch of crushed black peppers, half of the soy sauce, the entire amount of chicken seasoning, half of the corn starch, olive oil, half of the minced ginger, and garlic. Leave the marinade for 30 minutes prior to cooking.
- Prepare the slurry: Add some water, the rest of the cornflower, a bit of crushed black pepper, and the remainder of the soy sauce. Whisk them to combine and make sure that there are no lumps. Keep them aside.
- Cook the meat: Place a skillet on a stove. Turn on the stove and bring it to a piping heat. Add oil and wait until the oil is sizzling hot. Add steak in batches, and spread out in the pan for two minutes on each side. The heat should be kept medium to obtain caramelization. Transfer the cooked steak to a bowl and repeat the same procedure for the rest of the steak.
- Cook the vegetables: After cooking the meat, prepare a wok for vegetables by adding the remaining oil and place it on high heat. Add remaining minced garlic and ginger, crushed black pepper, and a little salt, and cook for 30 seconds. Add the vegetables and cook them on very high heat to maintain the lively color. Cook the vegetable to your preferred crunchiness.
- Combine the meat and vegetables: After the vegetables are done, add the slurry to them and bring to a simmer. While adding the slurry, make sure to give it a quick stir because cornflowers tend to settle down with time. Now, add the cooked meat and stir until it gets thick. The beautiful glazy meat with savory sauce is ready to serve!
