Coconut Chutney Recipe


Coconut chutney contains coconut, green chilies, and roasted chana dal. It is enhanced further by the addition of a little lemon or curd. This chutney is simple to make and is found in every South Indian home.

Ingredients
- 1 cup Coconut , grated
- 1 tbsp Roasted Chana Dal
- 5 almonds
- 2 green chilies
- 1 inch ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon rye
- 1 tsp white urad dal
- 1 teaspoon oil , according to experiment
- 4 Curry leaves , finely chopped
- 2 dry red chilies
- salt , as per taste
Instructions
- To make South Indian Coconut Chutney, first grind all of the ingredients except the tempering ingredients in a mixer grinder with 1/2 cup hot water.
- In a small saucepan, heat the oil. Cook for 15 seconds after adding mustard seeds, urad dal, and curry leaves. Pour the chutney into the tempering.
- Now, add the lemon and salt. Combine all ingredients and serve. For breakfast, serve Coconut Chutney with Ghee Dosa, Idli, or Rava Dosa.
