Coconut Chutney Recipe

Coconut chutney contains coconut, green chilies, and roasted chana dal. It is enhanced further by the addition of a little lemon or curd. This chutney is simple to make and is found in every South Indian home.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Coconut , grated
  • 1 tbsp Roasted Chana Dal
  • 5 almonds
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon rye
  • 1 tsp white urad dal
  • 1 teaspoon oil , according to experiment
  • 4 Curry leaves , finely chopped
  • 2 dry red chilies
  • salt , as per taste

Instructions

    1. To make South Indian Coconut Chutney, first grind all of the ingredients except the tempering ingredients in a mixer grinder with 1/2 cup hot water.
    2. In a small saucepan, heat the oil. Cook for 15 seconds after adding mustard seeds, urad dal, and curry leaves. Pour the chutney into the tempering.
    3. Now, add the lemon and salt. Combine all ingredients and serve. For breakfast, serve Coconut Chutney with Ghee Dosa, Idli, or Rava Dosa.
